Kingman Arizona Newborn, Child, and Family Photographer | My Third Business Birthday

I opened up my business three years ago, not really thinking it would take off the way that it did.

See, I initially quit teaching because my hubby and I knew that it was pointless to pay for two children in daycare, when I could stay home with them and it would cost about the same amount as if I would have kept working.  Yes, daycare would have taken three quarters of my measly teaching salary – sad, huh?  Anyway, the plan was that I would just stay home until the youngest started kindergarten, but as my youngest turned 3 years old this past spring, we quickly realized that I might not ever have to go back to teaching, because we were learning how to get by just fine on only one teaching salary, as well as whatever my photography business was bringing in.

It’s crazy to me that what started off as me only wanting to take better pictures of my own kids, eventually evolved into this amazing opportunity.

Ever since that first year, I have taken numerous classes online, workshops, and a couple of in person one-on-one workshops, as well.  I have invested thousands upon thousands of dollars back into this business, always wanting to learn more, get better, and make my clients happy.

I thoroughly ENJOY my clients and their children. I enjoy capturing their memories for them.

And, I am thankful. So incredibly thankful for this opportunity that God has given me.

I have grown a TON in these past three years, so I thought it would be fun to take a walk down memory lane, and pull up some old photos from when I first started out, reminding everyone that this business was (and still is) a journey. Because I feel that once you think you have it all figured out, then you stop growing as a person.

So, here’s some “then and now” for your viewing pleasure. Please try to refrain from laughing.  😉

These next three were all taken in the same location, just to give you an idea of what a difference a better lens, camera, and how my understanding of them has grown throughout the years. Also, notice how I loved to chop limbs off back then in 2013…LOL!

Looking back at these three of Gracie makes me so happy that I do what I do for a living – look at how much she has grown! She is literally growing up in front of my lens!

My sweet Emilynn, whom has been my muse since the very beginning. I knew she was my last baby, and she was the reason why I wanted to learn how to take better pictures. I never wanted to miss an opportunity to document those chubby baby rolls, adorable toes, and all of her firsts.
