Happy New Year! Wow, 2025 is already here! It has been over a year and a half since I last blogged. As someone whom has always enjoyed writing, and religiously blogged on this page at least twice a month, it’s hard to believe that that much time has gone by.

If you are a small business owner, and a one-woman show like I am, then you know how much time is spent on marketing, whether that is through social media like Facebook or Instagram, or through your business website.
Blogging is time consuming!
Blogging on your website helps increase your SEO, which is how people are able to find you, through Google searches. A year and a half ago, you could find me on page 1 of every newborn photography search for my area, and I was very proud of that. Regular blogging is what got me to that point, but it was extremely difficult work to keep up with it all. I had to make sure I was using the right keywords, my sentences weren’t too long, I wasn’t using the same content over and over in my blogs, etc. It was honestly a chore that took up at least an hour and a half of my day, each time I sat down to blog. Fast forward to today, and I am non-existent in Google searches.
Taking a Step Back
Well, the past few years have been difficult for me on a personal level. I lost my dad in December of 2021, and my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer in April of 2023. I definitely kept up with all things business, including this blog, all the way through to the end of May 2023, but when we realized that my mom’s health was deteriorating much more rapidly than we had expected, I had to put the blogging on the backburner for awhile.
My mom died in the end of June 2023, and then I took over her and my dad’s estate, which was more responsibility than I could have ever dreamed.
I still took on clients, and my turnaround time never suffered. It was always important that I continued to deliver top notch customer service and deliver my clients’ beautiful photos within 1-2 weeks after their sessions with me. I also managed to keep up with my business page on Facebook. However, dealing with the deaths of both of my parents within a year and a half of each other, while teaching full time, being a mother and a wife, handling my parents’ estate, and running my business part time, was more than enough responsibility on my plate. Something had to give, and unfortunately, that was this blog.
Now that some time has gone by, I am still grieving their losses, but everything with their estate has been handled, and I can breathe a little easier with that having been done. It’s time to pick up with the blogging once again!
New Year, New Space
Anyway, things have been busy around the Sweet Peas Photography studio! I recently added on to the studio, which was something I have been dreaming about for quite some time. I had scrimped and saved, and building officially began in November of 2023, and ended in late March of 2024. Here are some photos of construction, from start to finish.

Isn’t the space just beautiful? It’s so nice to have the added space, as well as a separate bathroom! I am ready to bring on the New Year 2025!
