Mentoring with Nicole Smith Photography {Kingman, AZ Newborn Photographer | Las Vegas Newborn Photographer}

A few months ago, hubby gifted me possibly the best Christmas present I will ever receive….a chance to mentor 1:1 with one of the world’s BEST newborn photographers!

Newborn photography is my absolute favorite, and when you want to be the best at something, you must learn from the best, which is why I chose Nicole. And when you want something as badly as I wanted this opportunity, you will do anything to make that happen!

So, I saved our family’s tax refund, which normally goes towards a summer vacation for our family, and used it for this amazing learning opportunity. I knew that by learning from Nicole, it would help take my business to the next level, so it was worth it to me.

Nicole Smith Photography’s studio is located in Scottsbluff, NE, and plane tickets can be quite expensive, so I decided to make a road trip out of it. My hubby didn’t want me to drive that far alone, so we arranged for our 4 children to hang out with their grandparents while we were gone. It was a super quick trip, only lasting 4 days, but it was a lot of fun. Plus, I’m a huge fan of road trips, so I was in heaven! 🙂

We left early in the morning (4 a.m.!) on a Sunday. I am the morning person in my family….can’t you tell?! 😉 photo 4 (4) Anyway, we arrived in Scottsbluff, NE around 7 that night…awesome timing! I made my hubby drive by Nicole’s studio that night, because I just couldn’t believe that I was actually there…that this was really happening!!

Monday morning came, and I was so nervous to meet Nicole….she was like a celebrity to me, and now I was going to get to meet her and talk to her?!? Craziness!!!

She was completely amazing, though. She welcomed me in, and was so incredibly humble and kind.

During that day and a half, I learned all of the tricks on how to pose newborns safely, how to soothe them effectively, and learned how Nicole edits. We talked business a lot, and there were no questions left unanswered. She was completely an open book!

Before I met her, I had gone back and forth on whether or not to pay for that extra half day, and let me tell you, I am SO glad that I decided to do it! I am a very hands-on learner, and on that second day, you get to do all of the posing yourself, which helped me tremendously!!!
