I love doing sessions in Northern Arizona. The weather is always much cooler, and the landscape is breathtaking. My favorite time to go up that way is in the summer months, when the heat in Kingman is at its peak.
When I first met Kelly five years ago, she was in her second trimester of her first pregnancy, with sweet Kaeson. We did a mini session up in Williams. We have since visited the same exact spot for Kaeson’s 1st birthday pictures, Klayton’s newborn pictures, and now Klayton’s 1st birthday pictures. They also have adopted two boys, so you can imagine how crazy life has been for her and her husband! Four kids under the age of four…whew!! I have done all four of their boys’ newborn sessions, which is such an honor! Kaeson is the oldest, and will be turning 5 this October, and the youngest will be turning 1 in a few months.
I love working with this family! They are always so chill and help me to feel relaxed, as well. When we arrived for this session, it was raining (monsoon storms always roll around in the afternoon in the desert). Thankfully, we were an hour early, so we were able to wait it out until it wasn’t raining quite as hard. The pictures of the boys on the log actually show the big raindrops coming down. Kaleb was not a fan! Haha!
I asked Kelly if she wanted me to edit them out, but she said she wanted them left in, because it’s a memory of that day for them. I love that she realizes that life isn’t perfect, and to take it as it comes. <3
Towards the last 30 minutes of the session, the rain stopped and the wind picked up from out of nowhere! Crazy weather! We still got so many cute shots, though, and the wind seemed to work in our favor for most of the shots.
