Giving Back, Week Three {Kingman, AZ Photographer}

Time for week three of my Giving Back contest, and even though I have gotten my fair share of speeding tickets in the past (I was quite the aggressive driver in my younger days, I will admit! 😉 ), I was still always be very respectful to these men and women who protect and serve our communities.

If you haven’t yet, I suggest that anyone who is interested, go on a ride-along with a police officer at least once in their life.  I have done it a few times, and was amazed at how many different calls they go on during a single shift.  They have to be that stern voice of reason with people who commit crimes, but still have to be soft enough to deal with the more delicate issues they face, such as a child being taken from their parents, or the victim of an assault.  That is a heavy weight for anyone’s shoulders to bear, but yet they do it.  Over and over.  Every single shift.

Thank God for police officers, who make it their jobs to ensure that our communities are running smoothly, who catch the “bad guys” and help keep us all safe, who put themselves in danger every day, who selflessly give themselves to their jobs, even though they know that they aren’t always respected.

Help me celebrate these brave men and women, and nominate a deserving police officer and his/her family to win a gift certificate for $150 towards a future session with Sweet Peas Photography.  Just fill out the contact form telling me who you are nominating and WHY.  I will be picking a winner on Monday, November 23.  Join me in thanking them for making it their mission to make this world a better place.  🙂

    I would like to nominate 2 people – one for the fireman give away, and one for the police officer. About a year ago my husband, a police officer for the City of Kingman, was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. It didn’t take long for fireman Rink Gordon, and Officer Dave Coffin, both of the City of Kingman, to step up to help our family. Not only did they organize a fundraising event at Chili’s, but they had t-shirts made, had a raffle, and showed our family what it means to be part of the City of Kingman 1st Responder’s Family. They raised enough money to cover the initial bills, and more importantly, were there for my husband. It was a very stressful, difficult, and scary time of our lives, and these two men (along with the many other people that participated) helped relieve the stress, take Jack’s mind off of things, and just really came through and supported him through it all. I will never be able to repay them for the amazing kindness and support that they bestowed upon our family, so maybe this will be a way that I can say thanks!ReplyCancel

    I would like to nominate Officer Ryan Cooney with KPD. He has been a dedicated officer for 3 years and has become an training officer and OIC for his squad. He is a driven officer who loves to help his community. Not only is he a great officer but also a great friend, loving husband and father to his almost 3 month old baby girl. I would love to see Ryan win this since he rarely has time to get family photos with how busy he is and his wife being a nurse. He truly deserves it.ReplyCancel
